Buffer capsules pH 4.00±0.05 contain a precisely weighed amount of free-flowing, soluble powder that, when dissolved in a specified amount of distilled or deionized water (typically 100 ml), prepares a standard buffer solution with a pH of 4.00 at 20°C (or 4.01 at 25°C). Key Features and Description
  • Primary Use: These capsules are specifically designed for the accurate calibration of pH meters, monitors, and controllers in laboratory and industrial settings.
  • Precision: The resulting solution provides a precise and stable pH value with a tolerance of ±0.05 (or sometimes ±0.04 or ±0.02, depending on the manufacturer and temperature).
  • Convenience: They offer a convenient, single-use, and cost-effective alternative to pre-made liquid buffer solutions, which often have a shorter shelf life once opened.
  • Formulation: The powder inside is often color-coded (commonly white, and the resulting solution may be clear or red) to prevent mix-ups with other pH levels (e.g., pH 7.0 or 9.2). The solid form and packaging with silica gel help prevent moisture contamination, ensuring a longer shelf life, typically around 2 years or more.
